What is a smart home and how does it work?

A smart home connects devices, sensors and rules that trigger agreed actions. A motion sensor can turn on a hallway light, while a temperature sensor can help control heating. Your phone lets you operate devices and check their status; an automation performs an action when its conditions are met. A standalone smart plug is one device, while a connected system allows several devices to work together.

We first check switch boxes, wiring, heating type, the network and compatibility with existing devices. Relay modules can retain existing switches where the wiring allows. Battery sensors and smart plugs do not require new cables through walls. We use Home Assistant for more involved integrations; the smaller Starter package uses SONOFF / eWeLink. The choice depends on the functions you want and the conditions in your apartment.

Cost depends on device and room counts, the chosen system, existing wiring and the setup required. The packages below show our existing indicative total budgets or survey-based pricing.

One automation and a whole-apartment package have different scopes. The final proposal specifies equipment, installation and setup. You buy equipment directly from a local retailer with the receipt and warranty in your name, separately from the service. Core functions require no opameti monthly subscription; later changes and support are charged as needed.

What should you prepare for a survey?

  • Your Belgrade municipality, property type and the number of rooms you want to connect.
  • Two or three practical goals: motion lighting, room heating control, a leaving-home scene or a water-leak notification.
  • Existing air-conditioner models, heating type and details of devices you want to keep.
  • Information about your internet connection and Wi-Fi network. Wait for compatibility checks before buying new equipment.

Questions before installing a smart home

What do pametna kuća and pametan dom mean?

Both are Serbian terms for a smart home: connected devices and automations in your living space. The same idea works in an apartment and does not require a newly built house. The scope and equipment depend on your needs.

Can I install a smart home without renovating?

Many functions can be added using modules behind switches, battery sensors and smart plugs. We check box space, wiring and compatibility during a survey. Installation without wall work is not possible for every property.

Can I start with a small package?

Yes. Starter introduces automations through SONOFF / eWeLink. For Home Assistant, a local dashboard or more involved integrations, consider Komfor or a larger package. We choose the system with future plans in mind; some upgrades require replacing equipment.

Will my smart home work without internet?

Verified local automations can continue while the controller and devices are powered and connected. Remote access, notifications and functions using external services require internet. We explain these dependencies for your chosen system.

Do you install smart home systems in Belgrade houses?
